Obtaining a Residence Permit in Turkey
Many tourists who have visited the Turkish state at least once dream of staying in this country for several months or years. The legislation of the jurisdiction gives the right not to leave the borders of Turkey to foreigners in 2023 for a period of 30 to 90 days, depending on the country of residence. Thus, Russian citizens are allowed to vacation without a visa for 60 days in a row or 90 days (in total for six months of stay), and citizens of Ukraine, Lithuania, Georgia, Estonia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Moldova can stay for 90 days within 180 days . What kind of ikamet can a foreign citizen receive in Turkey in 2023? The government of the jurisdiction is very hospitable and gives the opportunity to make a choice of ikamet, including on the basis of such weighty arguments as a business visit, medical care, legal requirements, and scientific research. Short-term residence permit in Turkey in 2023 -Under what circumstances can you expect to receive a residence permit in Turkey for up to two years? In this case, there are several options, each of which has its own characteristics and certain requirements. -Requirements for the applicant to obtain a short-term residence permit in Turkey in 2023: -Age from 18 years. - Medical insurance has been issued (with the exception of persons over 65 years of age and minors under 18 years of age). Documents for residence permit: - lease agreement for 1 year or TAPU (ownership of real estate) signed and stamped by a notary; - a document confirming the financial stability of the applicant and his family members (bank statement confirming the presence of at least $500 in the account based on this amountfor 1 month stay); - original and copy of the passport, certified by a notary; - 4 photographs for each applicant (on a white background as prescribed for biometric data). Also, a foreign resident must fill out a form, and if applying for a spouse and children, have with him a sworn translation of the minor child’s birth certificate and marriage certificate. In some cases, an apostille or stamp of the Consulate is required. For a business visit, documents about company registration, bank accounts, investment contributions, etc. may be required. Depending on the type of permit, the list of mandatory requirements may vary. Important: in 2023, Russians will be denied a tourist residence permit under a real estate lease agreement in Turkey! At the legislative level, these rules have remained unchanged and you can obtain a residence permit for the duration of your holiday under the same conditions. New conditions for issuing Turkish residence permits to foreigners in 2023 The new rules of the immigration program in Turkey were established on the following points and affect the issues of obtaining not only a residence permit, but also citizenship: - The minimum amount of investment in Turkish real estate that gives the right to citizenship is 400,000 US dollars.- The minimum amount of investment in real estate in Turkey for obtaining a residence permit in 2023 has two indicators: - from 75,000 USD in large cities, the total number of which is 30, including the popular Izmir, Istanbul, Ankara; - from 50,000 USD in sparsely populated cities (51 in total) and municipalities of Turkey. The Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs has published a list of “closed areas” in which the population density of foreigners exceeds 20%. Starting from July 1, 2022, the list of provinces and municipalities includes 1,169 objects where foreigners CANNOT obtain a residence permit for the purchase of real estate at any rate. Among the regions where access to the immigration program and residence permit is closed: 1. 53 districts in Istanbul, 2. 75 districts in Adana, 3. 23 districts of Ankara, 4.62 in Mersin. - Tourist residence permit (for rent) in Turkey is now issued only for 6 months (previously for a year at once). To renew this permit, you will need to provide a new lease agreement with a notary signature and re-apply for a tourist residence permit. Regarding the closed areas of Turkey, it should be added that the new norms do not apply to those foreigners who managed to obtain a primary residence permit in these zones BEFORE the introduction of restrictions and/or renew it on the same grounds without changing placeresidence. If the initial residence permit was obtained for the purchase of an object in another area, and the application for renewal was received after moving to the “closed” areas of Turkey, then in this case the foreigner will be refused. To extend the validity of a residence permit, you will need to provide other reasons. How to obtain and extend a tourist residence permit in 2023? A tourist residence permit for vacationers does not give them the right to work in Turkey, but allows them to stay in the jurisdiction for up to two years. You can apply for a tourist residence permit in person or through an authorized representative by submitting the relevant document to the Consulate and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Detailed information is presented on the official website of the Migration Service, where you can also submit an application - https://e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr. It is important not to violate the established validity period of the current ikamet and apply for its extension before it expires. You can extend your residence permit (tourist) in Turkish jurisdiction remotely by filling out an application. Help: in 2023 you can obtain a tourist residence permit under the same conditions.
